TyssoViaFerrata - in the Footsteps of the ’Rallar’

The construction of the power station Tysso 1 started in 1906. Mountain water was dammed, waterfalls and water put in pipes. And the groundwork for waterpower production and the industrial centre of Odda was made.

We're inviting you to a spectacular experience in the mountains of Tyssedal!

You will be able to experience first-hand the everyday life of the navvies who built the power station. When they secured mountain constructions, casted concrete foundations, hand-chiselled bricks, and installed the water pipes. It's an introduction to Norwegian history, while surrounded by beautiful nature.

The hike starts at the Norwegian Museum of Hydro Power and Industry (NVIM) and the Tysso 1 power station. We'll then follow the maintenance tram along the pipeline to the dam watcher's house at the top of the mountain, Lilletopp.
