Tysso Via Ferrata - Mother Norway

In Tyssebotn is the dry-made waterfall Tyssestrengene situated. Before the waterfalls was zoned for electricity production, it was the 5th highest waterfall in the world. And around 1900 one of Norway's most famous tourist attractions.

Through thousands of years water streamed down the mountainside in Tyssebotn. And the water has excavated the cave called Mother Norway wich is 300 m high and about 100 m deep. Mother Nature is a symbol of how hydroelectric nation Norway took control of the forces of nature, using water to create value and build the modern Norway.
Tyssestrengene was closed in 1967, and only then was Mother Norway presented to the world.

The tour starts at Ringedalsdemningen – the Ringedal’s Dam in Tyssedal. Further the trip continues by bicycle 6 km inland along Ringedalsvatnet lake. From Tyssebotnen we will follow the dry river course after the river Tysso 400 meters high, up to the foot of Tyssestrengene and Mother Norway.
